*Indepth Explanation Of Getting Hacked**How-to Prevent*

This is my very first topic here, but I think it will be the most usefull u'll ever see ;)

A few times I heard in Guild Chat that someones account was hacked, so I tried to help them but that was to late ofcourse.
On that moment I wanted to make a topic with a full explaination of hacking and how to prevent it, THIS WILL BE A LONG READ TOPIC, but believe me you/everyone here can use it ( no offence )

I've have a few years of experience with hacking people, I stopped with that because its sad and I saw no use of it anymore.
Now I want to share my knowledge with you.

So lets start, I explaining the basics of how you can get hacked.
There are different programs on how to get someone's info ill list them here.

R.A.T : Remote Administration Tool, this is some very dirty software, with this program the hacker can do as much as you can on your PC and even more. With this software they know EVERYTHING whats on your computer and they can even watch your screen. So what you see they'll see to.

You can only get infected by this if you accept something ( application / photo / music file ANYTHING ) or a Java Drive-by, ill explain that later.  *FYI : YOU CAN BIND THIS FILE TO ANYTHING YOU WANT*

Keyloggers: Most people think that the only that can ''hack'' you is a keylogger, as I describe above that really isnt the case.
But I think this is still the most used program to get game accounts.
This program will only save/log your keystrokes (anything you type) and will be send to the hackers email.

You can only get infected by this if you accept something ( application / photo / music file ANYTHING ) or a Java Drive-by, ill explain that later.  *FYI : YOU CAN BIND THIS FILE TO ANYTHING YOU WANT*

Phishing: I think this is THE method you guys are getting hacked.
For example, a hacker copy's the official DN CN site and sets a site up for himself with a free hosting ( .tk for expample ) or if they're good they can even make the link in your adress bar look the exact same as the one of the official site. http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/URL-spoofing
Enough about that, now you think but where do post/spread those sites?
They search of get themself a database of emails ( Just a file with a shitload of emails ) and send a email for example:

( offcial blahblahbla from DN around it ) You wanna see upcoming patch/ gear / weapons w/e - Log in here.

Just something where DN people are interested in, you get the point.
OR they say something with, You've received an infraction ( possible ban ) on your account, and BOOM they send there link to you, and they say, yeah log in so you can see your infraction or w/e. 
And then you login, and your login details will be listed beautiful in there email or an hosting site.

The last thing ill explain here is:

Java Drive-by: I think this will not be used alot for DN but its good to know how it works.
I think most of you guys know some Java based games, like runescape.
If you run those games for the first time you'll see a popup like this:
 

Now you think so what, I want to play that game right? why not click on run?
You can setup those popup urself, but the hacker can make it so, that if you click on run you install a nice RAT or a keylogger, in otherwords they can drop anything behind that Run buttom to screw you.
Now how can this be used against DN players, well I thought about a skill emulator, they just say; I just made this Skill Emulator it has EVERYTHING in it, old T2 build, and the newest T3 and the new job skills, even with live skill viewer.

And BOOM everyone falls of there chair and think OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME.
They click on the link and you get a Java pop-up, you think; hmm I never had this on any other Skill Emulator, well I think its just because its so super duper advanced~!
Good job, your infected now ;)


Now you know a little about the basics, now lets start preventing getting hacked.

You probably think, I cant be hacked I have a antivirus program installed! 
Its good you have it, but sorry to say its easy to get around it as a hacker.
If a hacker makes a keylogger for example, they can make it FUD.
FUD = Full Undetectable
How? People buy or make themself a ''crypter'' I will not explain this but this picture explains it quite well :


In short: A crypter makes a file FUD, and not even ONE antivirus will find it.

Now you think, why should I install a Antivirus then? It can stop alot of crap getting in your computer, and alot of virusses are completely FUD.

My recommendation, dont pay for a Antivirus you can make a very good ''wall of defense'' with free programs.
I remember someone thought that free Antivirus program's are not good at all, and not even a match for paid one's: LIES

Everything I recommend here is FREE.

For Antivirus I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials.
Its a lightweight, easy to use Anti-virus with an above average detection rate.

Now for Firewall, this will detects if something or someone wants the change or execute something on your computer.
The build in Firewall of Windows is CRAP, instead use COMODO Firewall.
This Firewall will detect what I just told above, in the beginning when you use it you get quite alot of message if you want to accept that something wants to execute.
After a few minutes you will only get that if you wanna install something new, because it remembers wich application you trust so it will not ask for that anymore.

Now you have a nice protection againsts RAT's and Keyloggers, but how about Phishing?
Browser companies like Mozilla, Microsoft and Google try to keep track of all Phishing sites and so protect for getting hacked by it.
I prefer Google Chrome, its lightweight, fast use, and updates himself with you not even noticed.

Now If it detects a Phishing site, you will get a screen like this:

( You see it Dutch because I made the screenshot myself, its in your own language if YOU use it ofcourse ;) )

I think Google Chrome has the best Phishing Detection because they can use their own Google Database to find them.

You guys biggest problem, is that you guys login everywhere where you find cool stuff/ information of DN. So please think twice before you login somewhere, and think ''Why do I need to login for this information?'' And then think If you should do it or not ( This is my opinion if im totally wrong please tell me, I dont wanna insult anyone I just wanna help )


Now for DN itself : Put a second password for your chars.
This cant be traced by any keylogger, a good RAT can find out, but you minimize your hacking chance ALOT so just do it.

I know im hacked, what now!?

First thing you do is let your Antivrius do a FULL system scan, when he doesnt find anything you can proceed with the next step.

Let it do a quickscan, remove all the crap he finds.

Download Teamviewer here
