Desert Dragon Nest Guide - Mushroom Rock Canyon Canyon Guardian Aputura

After clearing the 1st stage, you can proceed to the large area of the map, where you can ride mount. The oasis in the middle of the map can heal Hp/Mp.

There are a total of 5 bosses which guard the seal to the entrance of the dragon.

The merchant NPC near the oasis will ask you to find 5 of his bottles (which is likely dropped from the 5 bosses?)

There will be additional rewards if you killed all the 5 bosses.

You can clear the 4 bosses (except golem) in any order you want.

The golem so far cannot be challenged at all. It is speculated that it can only be challenged after you defeat the 4 bosses.

The boss will do a jumping stomp/quake attack immediately after the battle start and deal very high damage (~250k). Cast Holy Shield and Miracle Relic before the battle or immediately after the battle start.

Canyon Guardian Abdullah
Basic Boss Skill
- Claw Swipe: Frontal direction
- Poison Ball: Shoot poison ball from tail which stay on field upon impact and create a poison pit. Clear buff and induce poison status (~30k+ per tick, 10sec duration). The poison will grow in time gradually.
- Poison Sting: Lift its front legs and claw high in the air, swipe its claw a few times and thrust its tail to the ground in front, creating a poison pit on the floor. The poison pit will gradually grow in time; clear buff and induce poison status upon contact.
- Poison Spin: Put both its claw on the ground momentarily and do a 360 degree turn clockwise. Throw a few poison ball at every party member. Induce slow and poison status (~30k per tick). Keep moving when the boss is spinning to avoid being hit.
- Charge: Do a 360 degree spin anti-clockwise and charge. The roar at the end of the charge deals very high damage. This and the poison spin also start with a spinning motion before casting. You can differentiate these 2 skill by looking at the spinning direction: clockwise = charge; anticlockwise = poison spin. Also, these two skills will be cast alternately. This means, if he cast poison spin now, the next time he spins, he will surely do a charge (which happen to be a good timing to hit him).
- Tail Swipe: Dark elemental, only hit the back. Ignore Shield Block. Inflict poison status for 10sec. DPS class should not stand at the back.

New skill at HP x3
- Quake: Submerge underground awhile and leap into the air. The landing will create a powerful quake. High damage, need to jump to avoid. CD ~50sec.

New skill at Hp x2
- Poison Prison: Suck all party members towards itself. Surround himself and all party members with a poison wall (see figure below). The wall clear all buff on you upon contact and induce high damage (~100k damage). You are supposed to escape from the poison wall through an opening. However, the opening does not remain open all the time, but is shifted around regularly (see figure below). Each time, one of the exit will only open for about 0.5sec. After ~8sec from the moment you are sucked in, the boss will deal very heavy explosion (dark elemental) to anyone inside the prison. CD ~60sec.

There are a few known methods to counter this poison prison:

a) Proper way to escape
The proper way to escape is to wait for either one of the 4 walls to open and dash/blink across it. Remember that you only have 8sec to do that and there is only ONE chance. Also, take note about the minor suction which is applied periodically and correct for it while waiting.

- See video below to know exactly how to do this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d8Ggf2KX9o

b) Damage Negation/Reduction with Skill and Buff
The explosion damage does not ignore dmg reduction buff. Afew classes can totally negate the damage with the help of skill action dmg reduction, in combination with other buff to reach 100% dmg reduction.
Paladin: shield charge
Elemental Lord: Flame Vortex
Force user: Eraser
Mercenary: Flying Swing, Charge (with plate)
Destroyer: Maestorm Howl

Take note that the boss will shake its body 8 times before it triggers the explosive damage (at the 9th time).

If the party decide to use this method, in order for all party member to survive the explosive dmg:
Mercenary: devastating howl + taunting howl to further reduce the attack of the boss.
Priest: holy shield + miracle relic
Engineer: Damage transition, Mecha Bomber (stack with devahowl and taunting)
Screamer: Grudge Formation (increase dark def %)
Also make sure all party members do not touch the poison wall since it will clear all buff.

Title with 10% dark def or Dark helmet helps.

A detailed research on the real damage of poison wall has been conducted by 绿巨人 from duowan. He mentioned that the raw damage of poison wall (not counting defence and other buff) is 10~12 million under the berserk status (at Hpx1). Normal poison wall without berserk status is roughly 1/5 of this damage and can be tanked easily with miracle relic and devastating howl.

These data allow you to estimate if your party member stat's can withstand the poison wall damage under berserk status.

For example:
Miracle Relic = 75% dmg reduction
Taunting + Devastating Howl = 16 % + 50 % = 66% attack reduction (assume no technique accessories)
Mag Def = 85% (assume max)
Damage Transition (DT) = 55%
Max damage received (without DT) = 12,000,000 x 0.25 x 0.34 x 0.15 = 153k
Max damage received (with DT) = 153k x 0.45 = 68k ONLY

if you have max defence, you will surely be able to tank poison wall with or without DT. However except cleric class, i think most people will not reach this defence.

Lets see what happen if we lower the mag def to say, 50% ( ~ 15000 mag def), and we use the sugar title which increase dark def by 10%.

Max damage received (without DT) = 12mil x 0.25 x 0.34 x 0.5 x 0.9 = 459k damage
Max damage received (with DT) = 459k x 0.45 = 206k ONLY

Without DT, i believe most player with moderate defence will NOT survive a berserk poison wall.

However with DT, most player will survive it.

This is just an example, and of course, you can use screamer's grudge formation to increase the dmg reduction factor.

c) Prevent yourself from being sucked in
If the boss is at one edge of the map, and you are at the opposite side of the map, you can prevent yourself from being sucked in.
Acrobat: use spiral kick in the opposite direction helps.
Warrior: Charge/Run in the opposite direciton helps.
A video showing how this is done:
http://dn.duowan.com/1301/221015387909.html

The boss goes berserk at HP x1 and its attack increases by ~3 times.
New Skill at HP x1
- Moving Poison Spin: Same casting motion as Poison Spin, except that it spins much long and moves around while spinning. After finish this attack, the boss will do nothing for roughly 3-4sec, and widely open for attack. CD 60sec.

Poison Gas and Flowers
After depleting each bar of the boss's HP, a 10sec warning will appear on the screen before the whole field is filled with poison gas. The boss will hide underground.

4 flowers will appear on the field. These flowers will open when it is attacked and provide a temporary protection shell, granting you invincible buff to resist the poison gas.

However, the protection shell will only last for 3 second; you are required to move to the next flower immediately and attack it to get the buff again. You and your party members are required to move across these 4 flowers sequentially together.

Take note that the arrangment of the 4 flowers are random, but they can be broadly categorized into 3 patterns, as shown below:

The flower is very fragile and will open upon the slightest attack.

No party member should use any damage skill when these flowers spawn. Assign a party leader to open the flowers sequentially, ONE by ONE.

See video below to see how exactly this is done:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVhcEtP69MA

Your own summoned units and skills remaining on field (such as poison, flame road, laser cutter etc) can accidentally attack these flowers and trigger the protection shell by mistake. If the flower is open before the party members get close to it, the buff will NOT be applied to them and they will end up dieing. Actually, you only need 3 out of these 4 flowers if you can time the opening of these flower accurately. The total buff duration provided by 3 flowers is just enough to cover the poison gas duration.

After the poison gas disappear, you have to get ready to jump to avoid the jumping stomp when the boss appear from the ground.
