Spectrum Shower EX: AoE and Damage Calculation
The following analysis has been done based on the video recorded by @大小姐@, who is a friend of Half Sugar in DN KR.
Skill description of Spectrum Shower EX
Strengthen Spectrum Shower. Reduce casting time. Increase 1 laser beam from the ball. The damage of the addititional laser beam is half of the original one. The additional laser beams draw smaller circles within the original circle to attack enemies. The damage of explosive dmg is increased by 30%.
Casting Time Reduction
First, the casting time has been measured to be 2.07 sec, which is a great improvement from the non-ex version (2.9sec). As usual, casting time here is defined as the exact moment when the skill is press (the icon pop up and all other skills are grey out) until the moment when the other skills in the skill bar is light up.
The reduction of casting time allows spectrum shower to be cast in more scenario, as it doesn't put the smasher in danger while casting. For your reference, the casting time of 2.07 is almost similar to Summon Comet which takes 2 sec to cast as well.
Area of Effect (AOE) and Hit Count
The second part of the guide is the interesting part, which discuss the AoE and hit count/type.
The following figure summarizes the ingame skill rest results from @大小姐@'s video. The target is a normal human-sized one. The arrow in the middle show the direction in which the character is facing. The other symbols show the location of the target when the skill is cast. The two circles represent the lines drawn on the ground during the casting of spectrum shower.
In the normal spectrum shower, there are only 2 types of damage: sweep and explosive hits. The hit coefficient for the sweep and explosive hits are 1/10 and 3/10 respectively.
For a small sized target,
1 sweep + 3 explode = 1/10 + 3*3/10 = 1 x board damage.
The EX version has 3 types of hits: inner sweep, outer sweep and explosive hits.
Inner and outer sweep is the dmg dealt by the inner and outer circle during the circle drawing animation. As you can see from the figure above, the inner sweep and outer sweep hits varies depends on where your target is standing.
If the target is far from the outer ring, no inner and outer sweep hits.
If the target is in front of you Or slightly outside of the outer ring, there will be 1 outer sweep hit, but no inner sweep hit.
If the target is anywhere inside of the outer ring (including overlapping with you) but not behind you, there will be 1 inner sweep hit and 1 outer sweep hit.
If the target is behind you, and inside the outer ring, there will 2 inner sweep hits and 1 outer sweep hit.
In all cases above, there will be 5 explosives hit.
I have generalized the results in the following figure, the 2 dashed circles represent the inner and outer ring drawn on the floor. The different colors shows the AoE for different type of hits experienced by a small sized target.
Damage Calculation & Skill/Hit Coefficient
Now to the damage calculation and hit coefficient. The test target in the video has max defence (85%), and the skill coefficient can be easily calculated as follows:
Inner Sweep hit = 0.05 per hit
Outer Sweep hit = 0.1 per hit
Explosive hit = 0.24 per hit.
Take note that the outer sweep damage is the same as normal spectrum shower, but the explosive damage is actually lower than normal spectrum shower PER hit (0.3). However, since normal spectrum only give 3 explosive hits while EX version give 5 explosive hits, the total explosive damage is much higher for the EX version.
3*0.3 = 90% increase to 5*0.24 =120%; this is exactly the 30% increase described in the skill description.
For a small sized target, the total skill coefficient for various hits are shown below:
5 hit combo = 5 explode = 5*0.24 = 1.2
6 hit combo = 1 outer sweep + 5 explode = 0.1 + 5*0.24 = 1.3
7 hit combo = 1 inner sweep + 1 oute sweep + 5 explode = 0.05 +0.1 + 5*0.24 = 1.35
8 hit combo = 2 inner sweep + 1 oute sweep + 5 explode = 2*0.05 +0.1 + 5*0.24 = 1.40
So the maximum skill coefficient on a small target is 1.4 of the board damage. However, this will only happen IF the target is exactly behind you. I know this looks odd =.= but this is indeed obtained from ingame test.
In most cases, you will generally get 1.3 ~ 1.35 if the target is anywhere else within the two circles.
You will get 1.2 if the target is very far from you, far outside of the outer circle
That's all for now. I will update this thread again if i find any new info regarding the hit count on large size target.
Overall, the EX version of Spectrum Shower is very powerful. It has no blind spot and can even hit the target even when you are overlapped with it. The AOE has been increased as well, with higher damage even when the sweep damage doesn't hit. The most important upgrade is the reduced casting time since it allows smasher to use it more often in tighter dps frame during boss battle.
I will update the DPS chart for Smasher soon and show the DPS of Spectrum Shower EX as compared to other skills at lvl70 cap. It is expected to be very powerful since you can obtained the lvl11 Peak without skill accessories.
P/S: still can't believe i need to make a whole thread, just to describe Spectrum Shower EX. haha. Very interesting skill, i must say.
